Its resin\u2014also called balsam fir gum or Canada balsam\u2014has a long history of traditional use.<\/p>\n<p>Sapino continues that tradition using Canadian balsam fir in products designed for today&#8217;s lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s an important distinction: <strong>traditional use and modern clinical evidence aren&#8217;t the same thing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Laboratory research has found that balsam fir essential oil contains naturally occurring compounds including <strong>alpha-pinene, beta-pinene and other terpenes<\/strong>. Researchers at Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Chicoutimi have also investigated the antibacterial activity of balsam fir essential oil and oleoresin. These are promising findings, although laboratory results shouldn&#8217;t be interpreted as proof that consuming balsam fir prevents or cures infections in people.[1][2]\n<p>That&#8217;s precisely why we prefer to talk about balsam fir based on what we actually know.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\"  id=\"row-439236588\">\n\n\n\t<div id=\"col-1314956732\" class=\"col medium-8 small-12 large-8\"  >\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-inner\"  >\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\n<h3>More than a winter tradition<\/h3>\n<p>A scratchy throat doesn&#8217;t check the calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Air conditioning, dry indoor air, seasonal changes, travel, long days spent talking and the arrival of colder weather can all leave us looking for a little extra throat and respiratory comfort.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where keeping <strong>Sapino lozenges<\/strong> nearby can make sense.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the formulation, Sapino lozenges combine ingredients such as balsam fir essential oil with menthol, eucalyptus or echinacea.
